My name is Shereen and I am running for the position of Women’s Officer.

I am a final year Journalism with Sociology student and have been heavily
involved in the Students’ Union throughout my time at City.

I have been a member of the Executive Committee and a Sabbatical Officer
during my time at City. I currently play on the Women’s Basketball Team and enjoy getting involved in the social events that the Union offers.

I am a firm believer in community spirit and feel that what you get out of life depends on how much you put into it.

My motto in life is to work hard and play hard.

Why should you vote for me?

· I am a very enthusiastic, friendly and approachable person. I feel that these qualities are essential in representing the student body.

· I have experience in the Executive Committee as I was elected Women’s Officer two years ago.

· Last year I was elected to be Vice President for Education and Welfare in the Students’ Union. These past experiences have helped me learn about representation and how to be an effective officer.

My plans:

· To provide free attack alarms, helping students to feel safer.
· Organise self defence classes.
· Encourage more women to play in City’s sports teams.
· Encourage more women to run for the Sabbatical elections (as currently more men do and this year there is no woman sabbatical).
· Provide and advertise the supporting services within the university for women e.g healthcare, safe sex.
