The Students' Union is holding its annual elections for Part-time Executive Officers and members of its Student Council. This year is an exciting year to be elected onto the Students’ Union governing committees. We are planning for a new venue, setting up a company and re-writing our constitution. It is going to be a busy year and we want to encourage a broad range of students to take part. Don’t worry if you do not know anything about Students’ Unions; full training and support will be offered.
You need to hurry, if you want to stand for election nominations close on Friday at 5:00pm and you will need five other students to sign your form.
So step forward and make a difference in how City University is run. We need 10 more students to be a part of the Students’ Union Executive Committee, and over 30 more for the Union Council. The Exec is responsible for the day to day management of the Students’ Union and makes decisions that affect all students at the university. Each executive officer also represents campaigns and supports a specific group of students at City. Nominations open on the 8th of October and close on the 12th. Voting takes place on the 16th, 17th and 18th of October.
The roles available are International Students Officer, LGBT Officer, Women’s Officer, Post-graduate Officer, Race Equality Officer, Part-Time and Mature Students Officer and two General Executive Officers.
There are also elections to the Students’ Union Council. The Council is the highest decision making body in the Students Union. All members of the Executive Committee are accountable to the Student Council.
This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in how the Union, and the University as a whole, is run. Don’t be shy, step forward for this election and play an active part in city.
