Shorinji Kempo is a Japanese martial art. The Japanese classify it as a "Gyo" - a method of self improvement. Kempo helps create a healthy body, healthy mind, and ability in self defence. It has been taught at City University since 1974. Self defence techniques cover all manner of punches, kicks, strikes, blocks, throws, pins, escapes and takedowns. Everything is taught from a self defence perspective - there is no competitive fighting.

The City Shorinji Kempo club meets on Monday 6pm - 7.30pm and Wednesday 6.30pm - 8.30pm in the Martial Arts Room in the Basement (Level 1) of the Main Building in Northampton Square. There is a Friday training at 6.30pm - 8pm in Sadler's Gym. £1.50 per class Or you could pay £10 for a month and go to as many classes as you want to!
