Students' Union Clubs are set up to help and encourage students to participate in competitive activities. The majority of clubs are sporting related. We have 20 different clubs already in existence (a full list is available below), many of which play in BUSA (British Universities Sports Association) and SESSA (Southern England Students’ Sports Association) leagues against other Universities and FE Colleges regionally and nationally. Some clubs arrange their own friendly matches on a more ad hoc basis. Clubs are run by their own student committees with the support of the Union. The staff in the SU issue Sport Arena cards and help clubs organise their activities. This can include the provision of kit and equipment, the organisation of training/coaching, fixtures and transport to matches. If you are interested in a competitive sport or activity that is not currently represented by a club, and can show that there is sufficient demand, we will help you set one up. Financial support can be applied for to help you run your Club’s activities. To find out more, come to the Student Activities Pod in the Hub.
